Everyday warm rib socks for men and women. Ideal in wellies and hiking boots. Long and short options are given, along with several alternative rib patterns for the leg and fancy turnover variations for kilt hose. Instructions for renewing worn heels are included!
Things you need to know to make the socks:
200 (200, 250) g Frangipani 5 ply gansey yarn for long socks with turn-overs
100 (100, 150) g Frangipani 5 ply gansey yarn for short socks
set 3 mm double pointed needles
one 4 mm needle for casting off
stitch markers if required
To fit small woman ( woman, man)
foot length 9 (10, 11) ins (adjustable)
leg length (long) 18 (19, 20) ins from floor (adjustable)
leg length (short) 6 ( 6, 8) ins from floor (adjustable)
28 sts to 4 ins over the rib patterns when slightly stretched.
Frangipani yarn is a 5 ply gansey yarn, which comes in a wide variety of colours. See the

The pattern will also work in DK yarns, but you MUST swatch first!
