I live and on the Orkney island of Flotta, surrounded by sea and sky, farmland and moorland, along with about 60 other people. The ferry comes in three or four times a day (except Sundays!) and goes to Mainland Orkney, but we rely on the post for so many things! Like the yarn and tools I use in creating my patterns.
I design and knit both in the local North Ronaldsay yarn and others, such as ColourMart cashmere, and Jamieson and Smith’s Shetland wool. I specialise in designs bringing traditional patterns, especially Shetland lace, Fair Isle and ganseys, to a new audience.
My other love is teaching, but I can't easily do classes. So I have produced a variety of workbooks for knitting and spinning, allowing folk all over the world to get the chance to do a workshop with me!!
